Kitchen Manager

We are seeking a Kitchen Manager to join our rapidly growing team.

The Kitchen Manager will oversee all of our culinary operations and ensure that the University’s high standards are met. You will support, motivate, and educate our team while creating a friendly, positive, and welcoming environment for our students, athletes, faculty, staff, and visitors. As an innovative and analytical person, you will develop systems to increase our team’s efficiency, facilitate volume growth, improve our facility, and manage our budget. The Accountabilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations. Conducts daily line checks, food reviews and recipes of the day. Maintains currency, understands and ensures unit compliance with all university policies and procedures, inventory procedures and with all applicable, local, state and federal health and safety guidelines.
  • Plan, organize, direct coordinate, schedule and delegate responsibility to the staff, ensuring the goals and objectives of the kitchen are met on a daily basis by the staff. Maintain current kitchen schedules, staffing templates, staff trainings, ordering and production targets.
  • Develop systems to improve operational efficiency, facilitate volume growth, improve general facilities maintenance and cleanliness. Ensure adherence to all systems, procedures and policies. Create, maintain and implement all unit Standard Operating Procedures in coordination with Hospitality Management.
  • Maintain costs for food, beverage and labor within established budgetary guidelines and ensure unit generates revenue.
  • Plan and develop menus in coordination with Executive Chef and Senior Manager Operations.
  • Directly or indirectly supervise department employees and or student workers, usually through one or more supervisors. Perform recruitment, screening, hiring, orientation and training of department staff. Evaluate employee performance and provide guidance and feedback. Counsel, discipline or terminate employees. Resolve problems referred by subordinate supervisors or staff. Oversee processing of time cards and delivery to payroll.
  • Develop and implement security related procedures such as office opening and closing routines, recognition of duress signals and key controls. Coordinates security activities with University Public Safety Department, Promote and maintain standards for security conscious awareness and behavior. Maintain knowledge of university’s crime prevention and suppression programs and services. Ensure dissemination of security related information to staff.
  • Preform other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to change duties at any time.
  • The Qualifiers:
  • Minimum Education: Specialized or technical training.
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years.
  • Minimum Field of Expertise
