The Menu Partners is a diverse food business supplying hotels, pubs and restaurants up and down the UK with whole, prepared or cooked food. Within our group of businesses, we also have Absolute Taste, a leading event catering company, Absolute Taste Inflight our Private Jet catering business along with two farm shops, a pub and so much more.
We are looking for an experienced Head Chef with a passion for food to oversee the running of the kitchen in our beautiful Gastro pub, The Muddy Duck, Bicester.
Our vision and mission are simple; to create an exceptional pub, but to do this we need exceptional individuals. The ideal candidate will come from a similar background and have an in-depth knowledge of Food Safety, Food Allergen and H&S best practises.

As a Head Chef, your responsibilities will include:
Be passionate about delivering top quality food;
Manage labour and schedules according to budget set;
Ensure consistency and high standards are met in relation to food preparation and cooking;
Maintaining excellent standards of hygiene and cleaning schedules;
Recruit, train and mentor team members;
Have full ownership of the full stocktake process including stock inwards, stock management and minimise wastage;
Total control of hygiene including non-conformance;
To support Chef Apprenticeship programmes and be a close mentor to any individuals completing a Chef Apprenticeship within the pub;
Ensure all new Chefs have completed their on-line compliancy training prior to their 1st day working in the kitchen contributing to 100% compliancy training rate at all times;
Following recruitment processes according to company policy and procedures;
Ensure that work is conducted in a clean and tidy way, monitoring on a continual basis as well as ensuring legislative and government guidelines are adhered to including the Food Safety Act, Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH and Fire Regulations.
Key Attributes:
Previous experience in a Head Chef position is an advantage
A strong people manager; able to make positive changes
A good understanding of compliance standards including Food Safety
Experience in managing kitchen equipment maintenance
Expert knowledge of allergies and the ability to manage them
Ability to lead a team and promote best practice
Have a passion to mentor team members and assist in the personal development of the team
The Role:
5 out of 7 days per week (Wednesday to Sunday as the pub is closed Mondays and Tuesdays)
Hours are in line with pub opening hours
£40,000 per annum plus gratuities
