Head Baker

Position: Head Baker
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000
Establishment: Farm shop and Restaurant location
Location: Outskirts of Newbury
Shifts : 40-45 hours, 5/7 days, Weekend work required

Our clients has a unique opportunity for a baker who is passionate about producing high-quality bread and viennoiserie using local, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients. The role will centre around baking a small range of breads, laminated pastries as well as sweet and savoury items to sell in our restaurant and bakery.Our client is looking for

  • A strong team player
  • A deep knowledge and understanding of naturally fermented bread, enriched doughs and viennoiserie
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a real bread bakery
  • Working knowledge and understanding of food safety laws and guidelines
  • An enthusiastic & optimistic character; always able to approach situations with a solution-based attitude.
  • An eagerness to learn and share knowledge within a passionate team of like-minded people.
  • Has experience managing or coordinating a small team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Reliable and self-motivated, especially when working alone

The ideal candidate will

  • Adhere to and be an ambassador for the clients core values
  • Ensure that all bakery operations are completed in a timely and professional manner
  • Work with the Head Chef to propose and develop a frequently changing and seasonal bakery offering
  • Identify and meet business needs
  • Baking, mixing and producing naturally leavened breads
  • Working with and baking viennoiserie and pastry goods
  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with millers, growers and suppliers in the South of England
