POSITION SUMMARY
The Cook is responsible for food preparation for patients and special events. Ensures work areas are clean and sanitary.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directs daily food service operations in order to provide quality products.
  • Maintains sanitary conditions adhering to auditing procedures and statutory regulations.
  • Accountable for the execution of product and service quality by maintaining the highest level of delivery.
  • Promotes and supports workplace diversity initiatives.
  • Prepares food for patients and special events complying to par level sheets and in accordance with both Nutritional Services and Health Department standards.
  • Accountable for the execution of product and service quality by maintaining the highest level of delivery.
  • Follows standardized recipes to meet nutritional needs.
  • Participates in daily temperature and taste panels to assure quality.
  • Uses all equipment assigned in accordance with department safety and sanitation standards.
  • Attractively presents all items with appropriate garnish and correct portion size.
  • Properly cleans all equipment after use.
  • Reports any issues related to equipment to the Manager.
  • Active participation in data collection and monthly evaluations for department.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of High School Education or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one year formal culinary training or equivalent job experience required.
  • Maintains current Food Safety Proton Certificate.
  • Chef Red Seal preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to follow standardized written recipes.
  • Must have knowledge/training of food production equipment.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods (up to 6 hours).
  • Must be able to handle and work around heated equipment.
  • Must be able to perform cleaning duties including: stooping, bending, moving arms, lifting up to 50 pounds, using proper lifting, pushing, and pulling techniques.
  • Must be knowledgeable about, and able to work with designated cleaning chemicals.
  • Able to perform work in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Workstations maintained in an organized, clean and sanitary condition.
  • Maintain proper handling of all inventories, including proper storage, rotation, covering, labeling, and dating.
  • Handling food in safe manner, thus preventing exposing the food to the danger zone of sanitation standards.
  • Computer literacy in a Windows environment.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
