30+ Maryland eateries participate in ‘Vegan Restaurant Month’

Maryland Vegan Restaurant Month offers vegan specials at dozens of restaurants all over the state.

“Vegan Restaurant Month is a plant-based celebration all over the state of Maryland,” said Natalie Carter, the executive chef of LIORA and Double Zero.

Vegan Month menus are on offer at more than 30 participating restaurants, not all of which are vegan.

“It also gives them the opportunity to experiment with vegan items,” Carter said.

At Carter’s restaurant, LIORA, she and her team create all vegan dishes all the time, but during Maryland Vegan Restaurant Month, customers can get a three-course meal for $45, starting with a falafel salad.

“It has cucumbers and Kalamata olives and heirloom tomatoes and artichokes, and that’s tossed in a lemon dill vinaigrette and then going with the falafel is a tzatziki,” Carter said.
